Beginner Friendly Quilt As You Go

If you have ever wanted to have all your piecing and quilting finished at the same time, this class is for you!  We will take 5 fabrics (one yard each) and make this stunning quilt that will include the backing and batting.  When you are finished, you will have a complete quilt!

This is a technique class.  In the interest of time, we will make several blocks and put them together for a wall hanging.  You will leave with instructions and the pattern for completing a larger quilt if you wish.

Beginning sewing and piecing skills are a prerequisite for this class.  You should be comfortable threading your machine, winding a bobbin, changing needles, and changing stitches on a sewing machine.  You should also be comfortable using a rotary cutter and mat in order to cut your pieces accurately.

Bring your own machine and manual.  YOUR MACHINE MUST BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER FOR THIS CLASS.  If you need to rent a machine let us know.  There is a $25 fee for machine rental. If you purchase a machine from us, the rental applies towards the purchase.

Supplies available at the shop.  Receive a 10% discount on supplies purchased for this class. 

Basic recommended supplies:

• Sewing machine in good working order with foot pedal and power cord
• 1/4" foot for sewing machine (optional)
• Stitch in the Ditch foot for sewing machine (optional but helpful)
• One yard EACH of 5 different fabrics.  Make sure there are one light, one dark, and three mediums.
• 2 2/3 yards Backing fabric--non directional  
• Batting--this can actually be scraps but you need at least 9" square usable scraps for 2 2/3 yards total
• Cover strips (should match the back of your quilt) 1 yard
• Binding 7/8 yard
• 2" bias tape maker
• Scissors or snips. 
• Thread that coordinates with all your fabric. Neutral for piecing, Thread for cover strips will show
• Seam ripper
• Fabric marking pen
• Pins
• Rotary Cutter
• 18" x 24" Cutting Mat
• 6.5" x 24" Ruler
• 12.5" square ruler (optional)

You may bring a water bottle and or snacks.  We have sodas, bottled water and chips available for .50 cents.  Small refrigerator available for use.

By attending classes at our store, you consent to being photographed and/or recorded during class activities.  We may use these images for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and marketing materials.  If you prefer not to be included, please notify us in writing in advance of the class.

Cancellation Policy

Thank you for signing up for a class at Sewcial Creatives.  To be respectful of our teachers the following cancellation policy will be strictly adhered to. 

CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING (IF AVAILABLE) MUST BE IN PERSON OR BY PHONE DURING BUSINESS HOURS.

Class fees are fully refundable only if cancellation or rescheduling (if available) is made at least 7 days prior to the class. If you cancel or reschedule at least 4 days but less than 7 days prior to the class date, class fees are 50% refundable for a store credit.  If you cancel or reschedule 3 days or less prior to the date of the class, your class fees will not be refunded.
