Beginning Applique
Master the fundamentals of machine applique in this one day class. We will take a pattern from the book "3-Yard Quilts for Kids" and make an applique quilt you can give away or keep for yourself!
We will use steam-a-seam to draw and make our applique cats or dogs (your choice). We will use raw edge applique to stitch them to our quilt blocks, and then complete the quilt.
Beginning sewing skills are a prerequisite for this class. You should be comfortable threading your machine, winding a bobbin, changing needles, and changing stitches on a sewing machine.
Bring your own machine and manual. YOUR MACHINE MUST BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER FOR THIS CLASS. If you need to rent a machine let us know. There is a $25 fee for machine rental. If you purchase a machine from us, the rental applies towards the purchase.
Class is taught by Melinda Brown.
Supplies available at the shop. Receive a 10% discount on supplies purchased for this class. We have a special price for 3 yards of your choice of fabric for $35 for this class.
Basic recommended supplies:
- Pattern Book "3-Yard Quilts for Kids" available at the shop
- Fabric: 1 yard contrast fabric (something fun like florals or animals), 1 yard light and 1 yard dark fabric
- please note: The pattern can easily be made larger by adding more blocks. If you think you want to make it larger, then buy more fabric. Also, the pattern does not provide for binding that is what I consider "normal" dbinding, so figure another 1/4 yard of your dark fabric for binding.

- Sharp pencil for drawing shapes

You may bring a lunch and or snacks. We have sodas, bottled water and chips available for .50 cents. Small refrigerator available for use.

By attending classes at our store, you consent to being photographed and/or recorded during class activities. We may use these images for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and marketing materials. If you prefer not to be included, please notify us in writing in advance of the class.
Cancellation Policy
Thank you for signing up for a class at Sewcial Creatives. To be respectful of our teachers the following cancellation policy will be strictly adhered to.
CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING (IF AVAILABLE) MUST BE IN PERSON OR BY PHONE DURING BUSINESS HOURS.
Class fees are fully refundable only if cancellation or rescheduling (if available) is made at least 7 days prior to the class. If you cancel or reschedule at least 4 days but less than 7 days prior to the class date, class fees are 50% refundable for a store credit. If you cancel or reschedule 3 days or less prior to the date of the class, your class fees will not be refunded.
