Bella Coat--TWO DAY CLASS

Prerequisites:

This class is for individuals who already have a basic understanding of sewing and are familiar with using their sewing machine. Class is designed for adventurous beginner to intermediate sewists who already know their machine.

Tools & Supplies

• Sewing machine & thread.  Your sewing machine must be in good working order and you must know how to use your sewing machine including threading and winding a bobbin. 
• Standard utility foot or open toe applique foot for FPP and applique
• Extra bobbins
• Coordinating thread to complement your fabrics, and any piecework or applique design elements that you will be adding to your coat
• Rotary cutter and fabric scissors
•  A sewing kit includes pins, a seam ripper, thread, extra needles, marking tool,  etc.
•  Bella Quilt Coat pattern (available at Sewical Creatives)
•  Pre-Class Prep (Before We Sew) and Chat to help you get started
• Notions – as listed on the back cover of the pattern (see also pattern page 2)

• Tools and Supplies – (see “Gather” on pattern page 6 for a detailed description)
• All work to be completed as noted in "Before Class"

Requirements:

You will need your sewing machine. Pattern to be purchased prior to the start of class. Must bring your completed quilt or quilted pieces to use as your coat.

2-Day Class Session Information

SESSION 1: Plan & Preparation “Before You Sew”. - (Wednesday Before Labor Day  In this session of the course, makers will:

    • Discuss how to measure for their ideal fit and find their size on the included measurements charts

    • Learn to read pattern sheets

    • Discuss how to prepare pattern pieces including tracing and cutting

    • Discuss how to cut lining fabrics

    • Mini quilt preparation including cutting main/contrasting fabrics and attaching to batting

Day 1 

SESSION 2:   In this session of the course, makers will:

    • Cut coat fronts, back, sleeves, and collar with pattern pieces (all views)

    • Complete yoke assembly (View A)

    • Assemble accent sleeves (either View A or View B)

    • Attach piecework and applique (optional)

SESSION 3:  In this session of the course, makers will:

    • Attach pockets to coat fronts and back

    • Sew shoulders, attach sleeves, and sew side seams

    • Close pockets

    • Attach collar

Day 2

SESSION 4:  In this session of the course, makers will:

    • Prepare zipper guard and zipper

    • Install zipper and zipper guard

    • Assemble lining

SESSION 5:  In this session of the course, makers will:

    • Attach quilted exterior to lining

    • Prepare garment for turning

    • Close lining side seam

    • Topstitch quilted exterior

    • Finish sleeve hems

 BEFORE CLASS:

    • Read the pattern in full and watch the Add-on Video provided at ByAnnie.com

    • Print cutting labels provided for your convenience with the Add-on Video

    • Prepare fabric by prewashing (see pattern page 6)

• SESSION 2: Complete PART 1 – QUILTING (pattern page 12) *to be completed before the start of Session 2

    • SESSION 3: Attach Piecework and Applique (pattern page 13) *to be completed before the start of Session 3

• ALL SESSIONS: Any remaining work from the current session that was not completed in class should be completed in full prior to the start of the next session

You may bring a lunch and or snacks.  We have sodas, bottled water and chips available for .50 cents.  Small refrigerator available for use.

By attending classes at our store, you consent to being photographed and/or recorded during class activities.  We may use these images for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media, and marketing materials.  If you prefer not to be included, please notify us in writing in advance of the class.

Cancellation Policy

Thank you for signing up for a class at Sewcial Creatives.  To be respectful of our teachers the following cancellation policy will be strictly adhered to. 

CANCELLATIONS OR RESCHEDULING (IF AVAILABLE) MUST BE IN PERSON OR BY PHONE DURING BUSINESS HOURS.

Class fees are fully refundable only if cancellation or rescheduling (if available) is made at least 7 days prior to the class. If you cancel or reschedule at least 4 days but less than 7 days prior to the class date, class fees are 50% refundable for a store credit.  If you cancel or reschedule 3 days or less prior to the date of the class, your class fees will not be refunded.
