Ruth Bag Class

This is an all day class to make a Ruth bag.  This is a stylish crossbody bag compliant with stadium and concert requirements when clear vinyl is used.  The bag has contrasting accents, a zipper closure, comfortable webbing strap, and optional zipper pocket. This is an intermediate class.

The bag finishes at 11" wide x 7" high x 3" deep

You may choose any fabric for this bag, you do not have to clear vinyl.  

Pattern and all supplies are available at the Sewcial Creatives shop.  

1. Sewing machine in good working order with straight stitch foot, zipper foot, teflon foot helpful

 2. Lightweight tearaway stabilizer or Supreme slider for the bed of your machine 

3. Main Fabric - clear or printed vinyl ¼ yd 

4. Accent Fabric - pocket. Can be clear vinyl or cork ⅛ yd 

5. Contrast Fabric - (cork) ¼ yd 25” wide. Base, accents, connectors, zipper tabs, optional tassel 

6. Webbing - 1 ½” wide 1 ½ yd 

7. Webbing strap hardware - (2) ½” d-rings, (2) ¾” swivel hooks, (2) 1 ½” rectangle rings, (1) 1 ½” slider buckle 

8. (4) ½” bag feet 

9. (1) tassel cap or zipper pull tassel cap 

10. #5 nylon coil zippers (1) 12” (1) 5 ½” 

11. (8) small chicago screws or rivets 

12. (1) Zipper cord end (Optional) 

13. Polyester thread such as Mettler or Gutterman, nonstick sewing machine needles 80/12, sewing clips, chalk marker or removable pen, ⅛” double sided tape, other favorite sewing supplies.

Bring your own machine.

Class is taught by Myra Ortmann.

You may bring a lunch and or snacks.  We have sodas, bottled water and chips available for .50 cents.  Small refrigerator available for use.

Cancellation Policy

Thank you for signing up for a class at Sewcial Creatives.  To be respectful of our teachers the following cancellation policy will be strictly adhered to. 

In the event that you are unable to attend the class, you must cancel 7 days prior to class to receive a FULL refund or store credit.

If you cancel between 6 and 4 days prior to class date, there is a 50% forfeiture fee and you will receive store credit only for the difference.  

If you cancel 3 days or less prior to class, your fee is 100% forfeited.
